Volunteers

Our volunteers provide our services working alongside paid members of our team; without them we would not be able to operate our services as effectively as we do. We have voluntary support from a range of people including trustees, staff and their families and other professionals and they assist in the following areas:

  • Main Office Departments
  • Discover IT Suite
  • Equipment Showrooms
  • Shopmobility
  • Market Information Point
  • Attending Meetings
  • Fundraising and Promotions
  • Disability Awareness Day - events and planning
  • Positive Action Awards – event and planning

Facts

  • We have 70 people who regularly support our services with their time and skills with an additional 150 plus who assist us with events.
  • Our volunteers provide more than 15,000 hours per year of their time to support Warrington Disability Partnership.
  • If this time had to be paid for at the national minimum wage per annum it would cost us £72,750.

Our programme for volunteers is continuously expanding and we are now supporting people who have a range of disabilities to work with us at our Centre for Independent Living alongside both of our Shopmobility and Market services.

We also operate the Accredited Volunteers Certificate through our links with the Volunteer Centre (Warrington).

For further information on how to become a volunteer with WDP please contact Jayne or Brun on 01925 240064.

Warrington Disability Partnership was founded by 3 volunteers, Eric James, Allan Shaw and Dave Thompson. During the past 15 years hundreds of people have volunteered their time to WDP, many of us have developed lasting friendships. Sadly we have lost many of our friends during the journey. Richard, a WDP volunteer, wrote these words as he remembers his friend Mark another WDP volunteer who sadly died in 2005.
