Success StoriesWe are proud of the success so many of our clients achieve. Here is small selection from the many positive results we see: Michaels Success StoryI came to Warrington Disability Partnership, in June 2009 after completing a 13 week Cleaning Operative course. I felt my age was very much against me when returning to employment, and felt I wasn't given a fair chance, this made me feel very despondent and my confidence and trust in employers was at an all time low. I didn't want to waste the training I had received as a cleaning operative. I found the employment team very very helpful, both Julie the Employment Advisor and Veronica the Job Coach are very understanding to my needs and good at their jobs, they gave me support in returning to employment. I attended a 3 day skills for jobs, confidence and self esteem courses, this boosted my confidence no end, I'm very sorry its all over but the good news is I have a full time job through regular 121 job search with Julie. Keith's Success StoryThis is the story of how with the help of Warrington Disability Partnership I was able to launch my own company ten months after being made redundant. In January 2009 I was made redundant from my role as Transport Supervisor. I had been in transport 18 years, and at the age of 44 felt sure that I would have little difficulty in finding myself a suitable position back in the industry. It soon became apparent that this was not going to be the case. I was born with a congenital hip disorder which means that one of my legs is about 1.5 inches shorter than the other. It has never hindered me or stopped me doing any activity I fancied doing, but the older I am getting the more problems it is starting to cause me. I mentioned this disability to the Job Centre Plus who then gave me information regarding WDP. I contacted WDP, and made an appointment to meet Julie Payton in March. By this time I had registered with Warrington Collegiate on a PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Course). After meeting Julie for the first time, she explained to me how they could help me with some of my training costs and provide further support in helping me back to work. Not realising the significance of the PTLLS course and what it might lead to, I was introduced via a friend to a friend of his who owns a Training Consultancy, providing, First Aid, Health and Safety and Food Safety Training. He told me that once I had the PTLLS qualification and if I was to get myself a First Aid at Work Certificate, he could offer me some work with him. However it would mean me purchasing my own equipment and setting up my own business. WDP offered me funding for PTLLS exam, my First Aid Training and part funded my training in Health and Safety. They also referred me to Warrington Employment Fund and with the support of Julie and WDP, I was awarded full of funding from them for my Food Safety Training. Julie also advised me about the possibility receiving Advisors Discretionary Fund from the job centre to help with my start up costs. I applied and received £300 from them. On 9th November I launched my company, Frontier Training, and although I feel I have been lucky to get the opportunities I have, I also believe I couldn't have done it without the help of Julie and all of the team at WDP. |
