WDP & Jobcentre Plus 'Raise the Game' on Disability Awareness!
On Monday 3rd September at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, Jobcentre Plus (JCP) and Warrington Disability Partnership together staged a highly successful dinner for local employers called 'Raising the Game'.
More than 30 local employers attended the event with the aim of promoting the recruitment and retention of disabled people in the workplace.
Jimmy Wagg from BBC Radio Manchester was the host and JCP's employer offer was explained in a fun and informative way by Mark Wilson OBE and Graham Dumbell the senior managers for the Cheshire and Warrington district.
Dave Thompson MBE DL, founder and Co-ordinator for Disability Awareness Day, dispelled many of the misconceptions surrounding employment and disability by recounting his own experiences.
The event also saw three local businesses and organisations, Five Star Cleaning Services Ltd, NWSG & Security Staff Training Services and The Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace receive awards for achieving the 2 Ticks Disability Symbol.
The evening ended with a number of employers pledging their support to a variety of JCP initiatives including work trials and free training and a general commitment to work more closely with the voluntary sector and support organisations including Warrington Disability Partnership.
EMPLOYERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN RECEIVING INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUPPORT THAT WARRINGTON DISABILITY PARTNERSHIP AND THE JOBCENTRE PLUS CAN OFFER SHOULD RING 01925 240064 OR CONTACT THEIR LOCAL JOB CENTRE
