Local People Recognised for Improving Lives of Disabled People
10 awards were recently presented to local individuals and organisations at the annual Appreciation of Efforts Awards, celebrating the International Day of Disabled People. The ceremony, held in conjunction with the WDP AGM 2007, was attended by over 100 people.
The awards, now in their 16th year, were organised by Warrington Disability Partnership and supported by Warrington Guardian and Warrington Borough Council.
These awards were presented for excellence in support, services and employment for disabled people and their carers. Nominations have been received for organisations and individuals, who are thought to have excelled in providing innovative or exceptional services that have helped to improve the lives of disabled people living in and around Warrington.
2007 winners included Members of the Warrington Mental Health Forum for their commitment and promotion of Mental Health, Next Retail Limited (Gemini Retail Park and Golden Square Sites) for their awareness and support systems towards disabled employees and Warrington Amateur Radio Club for providing increased access to disabled people.
