Disability Equality Involvement Workshop
Following last year's successful event, local Charity Warrington Disability Partnership and Warrington Borough Council organised the second Disability Equality Involvement Workshop on the 11th February. The aim of the workshop was to involve local disabled people in the development of Disability Equality Schemes and Action Plans.
The event, held at Bewsey Old School, was attended by approximately 60 people, with presentations from workshop partners: 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust, Warrington Borough Council, Warrington Collegiate, North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Warrington Primary Care NHS Trust. An Opening and Closing address was given by Mayor of Warrington, Celia Jordan MBE, with Chair of Warrington Disability Forum Dave Thompson MBE DL, facilitating the event.
Updates on present activities and progress during the year were given by each of the partners prior, followed by group sessions to identify present barriers experienced in accessing local services and what how these can be overcome.
The meeting closed with a unanimous vote for the workshop to be organised again in 2009.
