Appreciation of Efforts Awards 2007

Here is a list of the winners and the words of the people who nominated them. Well done to everyone!

Margaret Schofield

Margaret has always been supportive of any decisions that her brother has made and has always been there for him, with all his health and medical needs, helping to employ the correct staff to and even stepping in when staff have gone off sick or when there has been a staff shortage. Margaret also cares for her 98 year old mother and is always around for support and advice. Of Margaret, her brother says "she has been a "rock" and she is more than worthy of this award. She is caring, kind and considerate and has put a lot of what should be time for herself into caring for me and my mum. This would be my way of saying "Thank you"."

Barn Owl Inn

For years now they have made the Wizard Narrowboat and its passengers extremely welcome, to the extent that Carl the owner had a ramp made to enable wheelchairs to access the pub more easily from the narrowboat when moored up.

Mr D Atkinson

The Group as a whole guided by Mr.Atkinson organise events, car boots, raffles, dinners and dances to raise funds for extra equipment for the cardiac and coronary care unit at the local hospital and raise awareness of support available to people with heart problems and their carers and family. A very worthwhile cause.

Members of the Mental Health Forum

Contribution to the design and delivery of all aspects of mental health promotion in Warrington. Commitment to partnership working with statutory and non-statutory agencies. Specific projects have included: - redesign of mental health training package - delivery of mental health training - DAD and Mental Health Day - commitment to personal development - engagement of high schools to promote emotional wellbeing - developing positive links with the media.

Virgin Train Travel Staff

Warrington Bank Quay Station Providing excellent services to disabled people; always polite, courteous and nothing is too much trouble. Disabled people are met at the ticket office and assistance is available if required. Staff wait to see if ramps are needed and assist people getting on/off the train. They always have a smile no matter what time of day.

Next- Warrington

Next Gemini & The Mall have been brilliant employers, they have an awareness of disabilities, they have a very strong support system in place for many for our clients and certain staff members at both stores have been exceptional at working with the client and The Employment Team.

Warrington Amateur Radio Club

At the beginning of this year the Club moved to a new room at the Grappenhall Community Centre. This ground floor room has undergone a full refurbishment over the last few months with particular emphasis on providing disabled access, including alterations to the structure to enable wheelchair turning space and also to provide a ramp for access.

Subway- Latchford

Subway as a company doesn’t have issues employing disabled individuals; The Manager Donna has been exceptional working closely on a 121 basis with our client, showing continued support.

Stapleton Tyres

s Stapleton’s have worked continuously with Employment team clients for some time, very understanding and promotes positive changes for all their staff. And moved forward to increase working hours for our client.
