Launch of DAD best so Far

THE launch of Disability Awareness Week in Warrington Town Centre on Saturday was a great success as crowds gathered to join in the fun.

Hundreds of people enjoyed the Arts Showcase in the Old Market Place, Golden Square. The sun shone as they gathered to enjoy music, theatre, singing and dancing.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Steve Wright. The line up of artists included friends old and new. It was expertly compared by Phil Edwards.
Information was given out to people who visited WDPs Information Stall who were promoting Disability Awareness Day and general enquiries on holidays, benefits, blue badges etc.
The Teddy tombola on the day proved popular and raised 550 for WDP.
DAD Arts Co-ordinator Maria McPartland said: The launch was the best year so far and the sun shone.
Crowds of people enjoyed the music, theatre, dance and other entertainment. Even Ollie joined in the Zumba.
The Launch celebrated the start of a week-long programme of events in the lead up to Disability Awareness Day, which will be held on Sunday 15th July at Walton Hall Gardens. For further details of this and other events throughout the week (including our Mega BBQ and Quiz Night), please visit our website www.disabilityawarenessday.org.uk or contact the team on 01925 240064.
