Warrington Disability Partnership

Scoota Safe Day

We are holding a Scoota Safe day in the Old Market Place in the Golden Square, 10am until 4pm. As well as a mobility scooter skills training track organised by the team at WDP’s Shopmobility, staff from BAS NW will be on hand with their demonstration vehicles displaying the latest designs in car adaptations including hand controls, hoists, swivel seats and top box storage systems. BAS NW will also be promoting the “Going”, the latest Segway styled wheelchair, which features an off road version.

Time and Place

Old Market Place
Warrington

10 am start

Date

2nd June 2018 and 22nd September 2018

Staff and volunteers from WDP’s social enterprise “the Disability Trading Company” (DTC) will be displaying a wide range of manual and powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters including those suitable for use on Network Warrington’s fleet of low floor buses. Staff from WDP/DTC’s Mobility Workshop and Service Centre will be offering advice and guidance on servicing and repairs, plus they will be offering a free pre-Christmas safety check and a valet of your power chair or mobility scooter. They will also be offering a free rubber ferrule exchange on walking stick and crutches.

Our Scoota-Safe Day events offer a unique opportunity for anyone to try a mobility scooter from our Shopmobility service, or try one of the wide range of manual and powered wheelchair and mobility scooters available from our DTC shops. Visitors can also pick up information about the latest vehicle adaptations from our partners at Warrington based BAS NW.

We are grateful to the team at BAS NW and the Golden Square for providing the facilities in the Old Market Place and Network Warrington, Warrington Borough Council and Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner for financially supporting the Scoota-Safe Campaign, which aims to improve access and safety to bus travel for users of mobility scooters.
