Business Community Supports WDP's Legacy Fund

Over twenty businesses have so far signed the pledged to raise a minimum of £2,500 for us during 2016, our 25th anniversary year. We are aiming to raise over £150,000 to build a Legacy Fund that will be used to support jobs for young disabled people.

Dave Thompson MBE DL Co-Founder and Chief Executive said “Young disabled people aged 18-24 are twice as likely to be not in education, employment or training as non-disabled young people. Members of our Board of Trustees agreed that we are perfectly placed to do something as the majority of our staff have a wealth of experience of living with a disability and are positive role models”.
At a launch event for Gold Corporate Supporters a number of businesses shared their plans of fundraising including Jamie Boyde MD at the Today Team a Warrington based transport company, he explained how he and his staff will be walking on hot coals when they take on the Fire Walk. Ann White from WIRE FM highlighted their plans to run a Bring a Pound to Work & School Day across Warrington on Friday 24th June. Managers at Royal Mail are holding weekly raffles with great prizes including a day’s leave which is a big hit with staff. Emma Hutchinson MD of LiveWire and Cultural Warrington shared plans to hold the LiveWire Mile in aid of WDP and to hold a fundraising event tied into music, art and performers at the Parr Hall.
