Prior to retirement in 2016, Sue held a number of regional and national senior leadership roles in Health and Social Care regulation, including seven years at the Care Quality Commission (CQC), preceded by five years at the Mental Health Act Commission (MHAC) where she was Deputy Chief Executive. She is now a Trustee member of the Board of "Skills for Care", a strategic body for workforce development and home of the National Skills Academy for Social Care. She chairs their national Workforce Development Forum. Sue has lived in Warrington for 40 years and started her professional life as a social worker and social work manager in Warrington and other parts of Cheshire. During her 40+ years working in health and social care, Sue says the most important thing she learned is that services only improve when we listen to the people who use them.
