Leigh Walmsley

Role:
Long COVID support, Corporate Support

About Leigh Walmsley:
Leigh initially joined WDP through the New Leaf project and then began volunteering regularly. During her time in New Leaf, Leigh developed her skills and trained in museum education, where her curiosity has always been at the forefront of her education particularly with her Journalism degree. She joined the staff as a Community Champion, engaging with communities disproportionately affected by Covid and offering advice and guidance to people building back their independence and living in the pandemic safely. This led to her role with the Long Covid Support Service where she helped launch the Long Covid Support Group, in addition to working with those individuals referred to the service by assisting with their needs through social prescription. This London 2012 Paralympian's lived experience, arthritis advocacy and patient perspective work has given her the skills and knowledge to help and support others in her role.
