About this job

A caring and reliable Personal Assistant is required to support a disabled child with autism, both at home and in the community. The role involves providing personal care and supporting the child to access social and leisure activities.

The child communicates verbally and also uses objects of reference and hand-leading to express needs. At times, they may display challenging behaviour (e.g., hitting out or avoiding demands), so a creative and patient approach to communication is essential.

Experience working with children with autism is preferred but not essential.

Main Responsibilities:

- Supporting the child to develop independent living skills
- Assisting with personal care (including changing nappies and dressing/undressing)
- Escorting to events and outings
- Supporting participation in leisure activities (e.g., swimming, parks, soft play, drawing, reading)
- Providing support while the mother attends to other children

Location:
Padgate area, Warrington, Cheshire

Hours:
4 hours per week (Saturday or Sunday), between 10:00am — 6:00pm

Example shifts:
10:00am—2:00pm or 2:00pm—6:00pm (to be agreed at interview)

Rate of pay:
£12.60 PER HOUR

Additional Information:

- A probationary period will apply
- An enhanced DBS check will be required (provided free of charge)
- Training and guidance may be offered by the family
