Energy Advice Officer Vacancy

Hours: 37hpw

Salary: £21,000 - £22,800 per annum

Responsible to: Head of Corporate Services

Purpose of the job:

Provide a free, impartial high-quality energy advice and support service across our main target audience of disabled people, frail, elderly and people who have long-term health condition.

Key Tasks:

• Deliver energy advice to disabled, frail, elderly and those with long-term health conditions, their carers and families

• Deliver energy advice to vulnerable clients who are facing difficulties paying their energy bills

• To train and raise awareness of energy advice within the third sector, health service housing associations and other statutory bodies.

• Raise awareness and referrals for other grant funding schemes

• To engage and empower vulnerable individuals to make informed decisions on how to make their energy use more affordable

• To Provide bespoke interventions to clients face-to-face, over the phone and through home visits

• Install and explain energy saving measures such as LED lighting, power downs, radiator reflector panels

• To recognise where a customer may need further specialist support around benefits advice before referring them to the appropriate advisor

• Showcase Smart and Efficient Assistive technology via the Energy Efficiency and Smart Flat.

• To liaise with energy suppliers on energy debt

General

• To promote Warrington Disability Partnership to the wider public and other key organisations in relation to current services. To act at all times to uphold the reputation of the organisation.

• To work within the guidelines of the WDP Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Policy, Equal Opportunities Statement and Health & Safety Policy and all other current WDP Policies and Procedures, where relevant.

• Travelling to/from WDP locations and outside promotions, when required.

• Such other ad hoc duties may be required and are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.

• Attend relevant WDP meetings / events, when required, including the WDP Away Day, Disability Awareness Day and the WDP AGM.

Person Specification

We will be seeking dynamic and dedicated people who can think on their feet, someone with a caring nature who has a strong desire to help people and is passionate about making a difference. They will need to be highly organised and adaptable. Someone who is a confident communicator who can engage with the community to deliver energy advice and training. Appropriate qualifications in energy efficiency would be useful, although not vital as we will provide full on the job personalised training and support to obtain formal qualifications for the successful candidates.

Knowledge and understanding or lived-experience of disability, long-term health conditions and frail elderly.

Persons will require to complete a Level 3 NEA Energy Awareness Qualification, if not held already early on in employment.
